Corporate Worship Defined
We understand biblical corporate worship to be a time for God's people to come together with surrendered hearts, seeking to give Him glory for who He is and what He has done for us through Jesus Christ. We also believe that it is a time to respond to Him in obedience as He speaks to us through His Holy Spirit.
Philosophy of Worship
(Psalm 100, John 4:7-26, Romans 12:1-2)
God has created us to know Him and to seek Him, to worship Him now and throughout eternity. God-centered worship has the power to change lives, churches, and even nations. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense for Satan to focus much of his energy on distracting us from the very thing we were created to do. Just as the Israelites struggled with idolatry, we too have the propensity to put things or people or agendas above God. While our times of corporate worship should encourage us and bless us, they are not for us, they are, of course, for God and His glory. Ultimately, we recognize that worship is much more than something we do once a week at a church service. Worship is the offering of our entire lives in adoration and service to God.
Style of Worship Music at Calvary Community
Our goal is to provide a musical setting that is inclusive, relevant, and engaging. Each week, we strive to walk the fine line of inspiring our people to enter into uninhibited praise without drawing attention to ourselves and away from Jesus. Sunday mornings typically include a mix of uptempo songs of celebration with guitars, drums, etc., as well as more reflective, intimate songs of prayer, confession and adoration. Stylistically, we lean toward a "modern worship" style, integrating current worship music with new arrangements of tireless hymns.
Communion
We typically hold Communion on the last Sunday of every odd numbered month. We welcome those who profess Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior to partake.
